Gay & Bi Men's Health Program
HIV Prevention & Education

The Gay & Bi Men's Health Program is an organization that is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and private donations. We provide HIV and STD prevention and education services to gay and bi men living on the North Shore and Merrimack Valley, focusing on Lynn, Beverly, Salem, Gloucester, Swampscott, Haverhill and Salisbury MA.   Program staff facilitates social/discussion groups, one on one and group education. GBMHP outreach workers maintain consistent presence at clubs, parties, internet and other GLBT community venues, providing free condoms, information and referrals. Outreach educators conduct confidential and anonymous interviews to assess a client's risk for HIV or sexually transmitted infections, arrange for STD and HIV testing, and assist the client in making a realistic plan for risk reduction. Staff also provides STD risk assessments, education and referrals for individuals living with the HIV virus. In addition, GBMHP run the "CERTIFIED" peer advocate program, a CDC approved HIV prevention intervention that trains popular members of the GLBT community in effective ways to talk to partners and friends about HIV risks and prevention.

FACTS:  Approximately one out of two gay or bisexual men infected with HIV in Massachusetts doesn’t know they have the virus. As of December 2007, in Massachusetts new HIV infections are increasing in the gay and bi men's community. HIV is preventable. Contact information
